(More customer reviews)See the cardboard. The lower edge of the cardboard is flush with the base of the modifier. The base prevents the modifier from being screwed in far enough for the center tip to touch the contact in the base of the original candelabra socket because the ceramic socket is so deep (tiny candelabra bulbs fit because they are tapered at the base). This design is mandated by idiots at the federal level so that you cannot put a decent bulb into your fan light unit. I'm going blind here, OSHA (or whoever)! And no, you can no longer buy (new) a light unit for your fan that takes normal bulbs. From what I read, they've made them illegal.
