(More customer reviews)I also saw this in the Family Handyman. Install was easy (Note plan ahead and make sure you have the right switch cover plate if there are other switches with the fan switch). There is a bypass feature to prevent fan from coming on if you are intentionally trying to steam things up (nice!). Fan will run for 30 min whether you manually turn it on or if it comes on automatically. My only wish is that the control would instead turn the fan off after the humidity level returns to normal (could take less than 30 min). Sold my neighbor on buying one already.

As with any lamp, styling that suits you is paramount. In our case, this lamp is just what we were looking for. We've had the Casablanca predecessor to this lamp over our dinette table for 23 years and still think it's perfect. (Check with casablancafans dot com to see if your fan will accommodate this lamp kit, before ordering.)
The lamp comes with a pull chain in the center. The chain switch has four clicks: off, two lamps on, the other two lamps on, four lamps on. Although all four lamps point straight down in the attached photos (choose the color name of "Snow White" to see Customer Images), each lamp can be swivelled up to nearly 90 degrees; once positioned to the angle of your choice, the lamp stays put.
This lamp requires candelabra based bulbs. It comes with four 40w incandescent bulbs which we replaced with 13w candelabra soft light compact florescent bulbs. The CFCs are equivalent to 60w incandescents and are plenty bright because the exposed bulbs have NO glass globes restricting the light output. With the small 40w incandescents, the bulbs were 1.5" back from the shade end. The CFCs are nearly flush with the shade end.
To install this lamp, remove the bottom cap of the fan and unscrew the 3/8" fan pipe screw that's in the center of that cap. Screw this lamp's threaded "pipe" into that cap and secure it with the included lock washer and nut, attach two wires (hot & neutral), and reattach the cap to the fan.

Tandem Whole House Fan Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased this fan to replace a 32" whole house direct drive fan. The reasons for replacing the other fan were the loss of heat through the uninsulated louvers and the racket it made when operating.
The installation was not very difficult and the insulating door did seal the opening and limited the heat loss.
The maunfacturer touted the super quiet operation of this product. NO WAY! This fan is as noisy as the previous one. We rarely use it. Instead of the sound of a freight train the other fan made, this one sounds like a 747 taking off.
If its quiet you want, you don't want this fan.

We've only had it for a few days so I can't comment on its longevity or durability, but it's very user-friendly for my daughter (doesn't get hot, easy to rotate), and I like that it's light-sensitive so it turns itself on and off. However, as you can see in the picture, it only rotates back and forth (not side-to-side and it does not swivel at the base), so your adjustment options are pretty limited. It plugs right into the socket so you have to find a wall socket that's not blocked by anything or put on a power strip and set it out (which is what we did). If you're looking for a little cartoon of planets for your kid to look up at, this works for you! If you want a large constellation projection on the ceiling, it is definitely not!

(More customer reviews)I bought this thermostat (four of them actually) to replace four 28-year old analog thermostats controlling the baseboard heating in a condo I bought as a second home. These digital units immediately let me set temperatures without having to guess and constantly juggle to get a proper temperature as the old non-digital thermostats required. They hold temperatures within a nice narrow range (although they can be programmed via a dip switch to let temperatures fluctuate a bit more for possible energy savings) for each room. Installation was simple (note that you do want to cap off the second set of wires if you have a 120V system -- read the instructions and note how any existing thermostats are wired to make installation easy). The $2 faceplates which can be ordered separately seem to be necessary to get a finished look on the installation since the thermostats apparently do not mount flush to all boxes.
Each unit takes 2 batteries (AA) so get them before you install the unit. They recommend two major brands and no others -- probably a good idea to follow that suggestion. This is not a "rechargeable battery" setup.

I am evaluating wall controls from other manufacturers that:
1. Communicates to the UC7067 receiver usually used in these ceiling fans
2. Uses wall voltage instead of batteries.
Looks like Monte Carlo doesn't make any that meet these requirements.

These lampshades are small; about the size of a cocktail glass. In order to get a complete set of 4 I would have had to spend $264.00. So, I contacted Amazon, who told me to contact SABABA SHOPPING. The person at SABABA sent an RMA back to me, and I, in turn, returned the lone lamp shade. Well, its been 2 weeks and I have no lampshade and I sure didn't get my money back. The only reason this cluster even received one star is you have to check something in that category. As far as I'm concerned Amazon is as bad as Sababa for aiding and abetting this operation. Until Amazon cleans up the companies that they rent web space to, I will not buy another thing from this outfit.

It snapped in to place perfectly, and thats all that went right. The flat fitting that is supposed to attach to the garden hose was sealed by a small O-ring. It did not fit securely, would not thread properly to two different garden hoses and leaked, not a little - a lot. Both ends of the hose that were to supply the water from the garden hose end to the mist ring leaked, not a little - a lot. I tried tightening the hose clamps on both ends to no avail. Which brings me to the "mist" ring. I was under the impression that when the water did get to the ring, it would be a mist - not a shower. I have a mist system on my patio that provides "mist". This unit provides a camp ground style shower. The holes in the misting caps are way to large to provide a mist of water. If I was a football player on the sidelines the mist might be suitable, not for providing a cool comforting mist for you guests on a patio settings. Save your money on this product and keep looking.

Inline 6" Centrifugal Duct Fan, Metal Housing 483 CFM Review

(More customer reviews)I'm using this fan as a duct booster. I added two vents to a sunroom at the far end of our house but was getting very little airflow from our furnace due to the distances involved (about 50 feet thru a 6" duct, about half of that being insulated flex duct). I wasn't sure how much boost power I needed so bought a somewhat overpowered fan and also a speed control to slow it down if necessary. At full power, this fan blows a LOT of air, so much so that it robs a noticeable portion of the air from the other vents in the house, so I do use the speed control to tame it down. It's a bit noisier than I had hoped. There's absolutely no noise coming out of the vents that it actually feeds through the flex duct, but the fan noise does travel back to the main duct and out the other vents in the house. I added a duct muffler, which helped somewhat, but the noise level is still noticeably higher than that produced by the furnace blower alone. The fan seems to be well built. The installation instructions are good. The terminal block made it very easy to connect to AC power. I do wish the parts of the fan that mates with the ducts were a bit wider - there's not a lot of material there to work with. Regarding the speed controller, I actually bought two speed controllers along with a pressure switch. When the furnace blower is off, the pressure switch powers the fan with a controller set to a very low speed, which constantly gives the sunroom a bit of needed air circulation. When the furnace blower kicks on, the pressure switch switches to the other controller which is set at a higher speed and provides plenty of warm/cool air to the room.

Dayton 7F666 Attic Exhaust Fan With Classic Steel Color Review

Very loud once mounted on house frame (vibrates too much and transmits vibrations to the house framing.) Documentation probably does not point out proper mounting methods to reduce noise (or is it we hired an incompetent electrician? The guy mounted it directly on the house framing, without consideration of throughput versus vent size, without rubber pads we had to request ourselves, without any side framing to prevent air leak & re-circulation! Any mounting advice we found easily on the internet he simply ignored!)
This fan has no speed control (nor will it accept an add-on rheostat for this; the electrician stated it would burn the electric motor out!) This means the fan always operates at full speed, full noise level, regardless of environmental conditions.
The thermostat is industrial looking; as a result it can't be installed in convenient, reachable places. Our "smart" electrician installed it in the attic, for ever beyond reach once the bedroom ceiling finished... We had to make an access trap afterwards. In summer in Boston Metrowest, preset trigger temperature 90K roughly gets the fan running all day from 10:30AM to 2:00AM, preventing quiet sleep in the master bedroom until late at night!
Keep away from this non-sense. Get a fan with speed control in addition to thermostat. Get 5 blades instead of 3 (and larger blades if allowed by your space requirements) to allow operation at lower speeds. Throw in an override switch (not comprised in the already high price of that fan.)
